P-Sand vs M-Sand: which do you need?
M-Sand is coarser and made for concrete and block work. P-Sand is screened finer, with the larger particles removed, so it spreads easily under a trowel and produces a smooth plaster surface. Using M-Sand for plastering gives a rough finish and uses more cement; using P-Sand in concrete reduces strength. Order both for a typical house: M-Sand for the structure and P-Sand for finishing.
Where P-Sand is used
Internal and external wall plastering, ceiling plastering, tile fixing mortar, brick and block pointing, and finishing coats over concrete. Most residential projects in Tenkasi need about one unit of P-Sand for every three to four units of M-Sand, though your mason will confirm based on wall area.
