Bricks or blocks: which should you use?
Chamber bricks are durable, breathe well and suit load-bearing walls and heritage-style construction, but they take longer to lay and use more mortar. Solid cement blocks are larger, so walls go up faster with fewer joints and less plaster. Hollow blocks are lighter, insulate better and reduce dead load on the frame, which makes them the usual choice for upper-floor partitions in RCC-framed houses.
