Enter the size of the slab, wall or plaster area and get cement bags, M-Sand and blue metal in units, and brick or block counts, in the quantities Tenkasi suppliers actually sell. Use it to budget before you call for rates.

Concrete: slab, footing or floor

Cement20 bags
M-Sand35 cu ft (0.35 units)
Blue metal70 cu ft (0.7 units)

Bricks or blocks for a wall

Pieces needed (incl. 5% wastage)591 blocks
Per square foot1.125 blocks

Cement9 bags
P-Sand40 cu ft (0.4 units)

Estimates use standard nominal-mix thumb rules (dry volume factor 1.54, one bag = 0.0347 m³, one unit = 100 cu ft). Add 5 to 10% for wastage on sand and aggregate. Your engineer's design mix takes precedence.

How the calculator works

  • Concrete: wet volume is converted to dry volume with the 1.54 factor, then split by the nominal mix ratio. Cement is shown in 50 kg bags of 0.0347 m³; sand and aggregate in cubic feet and units of 100 cu ft.
  • Walls: pieces per square foot for each wall type, plus 5% for breakage and cutting. Deduct door and window openings from the wall area before entering it.
  • Plaster: a 1 : 4 cement to P-Sand mix with a 1.27 dry volume factor. Ceilings and smooth block walls take 10 to 12 mm; rough brick and external walls take 15 to 20 mm.

Common Questions

About 8 bags of cement, 0.42 m³ (15 cu ft) of M-Sand and 0.84 m³ (30 cu ft) of 20 mm blue metal, using the 1 : 1.5 : 3 nominal mix and a dry volume factor of 1.54.
About 10 to 11 chamber bricks per square foot for a 9-inch wall and 5 to 6 for a 4.5-inch wall. Solid or hollow blocks with a 16 x 8 inch face need about 1.1 to 1.2 per square foot, and AAC blocks about 0.8.
For 12 mm plaster in a 1 : 4 mix, roughly 40 cu ft of P-Sand (about 0.4 unit) and 8 bags of cement per 1,000 sq ft. External 15 mm plaster needs about 25% more.
In Tamil Nadu, sand and aggregate are sold by the unit, which is 100 cubic feet or about 2.83 cubic metres. A TKR tipper carries up to four units per trip, and per-unit rates assume a full 4-unit load.
