Hollow Concrete Blocks
TKR Building Materials supplies machine-made hollow concrete blocks in 4, 6 and 8 inch thicknesses across Tenkasi district. A hollow block has two or three cores that cut its weight by about a third compared with a solid block of the same size, so walls go up faster, load less onto the frame and insulate better against heat and sound. They are the usual choice for partition walls, upper-floor infill in RCC-framed houses and long compound walls.

Where to use hollow blocks
Use 4 inch hollow blocks for internal partitions and 6 inch for external infill walls in RCC-framed houses, especially on first and second floors where saving weight reduces beam and column steel. Use 8 inch blocks for compound walls and single-storey load-bearing walls where the engineer allows. For walls that will carry heavy wall-hung loads or need chasing for conduits, solid blocks or bricks are easier to work with.
Hollow blocks vs solid blocks vs bricks
Hollow and solid blocks share the same 16 x 8 inch face, so both need about 1.1 to 1.2 pieces per square foot against 10 or more chamber bricks. Hollow blocks are lighter and insulate better; solid blocks are stronger in compression and better for fixings. Both lay two to three times faster than bricks and take thinner plaster. Our blocks are machine-pressed and properly cured, so they hold their dimensions and do not crumble at the edges. They are counted onto the vehicle, stacked to limit breakage and delivered by tipper or lorry across Tenkasi, Ilanji, Courtallam, Shencottai, Kadayanallur, Alangulam, Surandai, Puliyangudi and Sankarankovil.
